My artwork includes oil paintings, pastels, as well as drawings in pencil or ink. Inspiration comes from all walks of life, from seeing something that snaps like a picture in my imagination to creating images that I imagine when hearing music or remembering a moment in my life.

Sometimes I just want to record the beauty of the sun shining on the side of an old barn. At other times, I paint a barn remembered from another time and place, drawing only on memory and visualization.

Often inspired by the sounds of music, I have created some pieces of musicians, composers, songwriters that are formed from images that I "see" when hearing their music and thinking about their words. Sometimes, one single phrase, such as "kitchen light fell asleep on the bedroom floor " by John Prine in his song, "One Red Rose," inspired my pastel of the same name.

Influenced by the artwork of the post-impressionists, mainly Vincent Van Gogh, as well as the Spanish painters Pablo Picasso and Remedios Varo.
